Addendum No. 1 Now Available: Williamsburg and Hatton-McCredie Real Estate Sales

The North Callaway R-1 School District has issued Addendum No. 1 for the sealed-bid sales of the former Williamsburg Elementary and Hatton-McCredie Elementary properties. Anyone planning to bid should carefully review the addendum for their property.

What’s included in both addenda:
Playground equipment is excluded from the real estate sales and is being offered separately through our surplus playground equipment bid. Real estate bidders may also bid on that equipment.
A revised Exhibit C (Real Estate Purchase and Sale Agreement) replaces the original and must be submitted with each bid.
Prospective bidders requested information on utility costs, building maintenance expenses, and the on-site lagoon wastewater system.

Additional updates for Williamsburg Elementary:
The full Request for Sealed Bids is now attached to the addendum.
An additional property inspection will be held Thursday, October 29, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., or by appointment.
The deadline for written questions has been extended to Tuesday, November 3, at 5:00 p.m.

Important reminders:
Every bidder must acknowledge Addendum No. 1 and its issue date (October 28, 2026) on the Bid Form.
The real estate bid deadline remains Tuesday, November 10, at 2:00 p.m. Bids will be opened publicly at that time in the North Callaway High School Library.

Own a piece of North Callaway history!

With our students now settled into the new North Callaway Elementary School, the District is selling the surplus playground equipment from the former Williamsburg and Hatton-McCredie elementary schools through a sealed-bid process. Equipment is offered in three separate lots:

Bid 1: All playground equipment at the former Williamsburg Elementary
Bid 2: The Hatton Rocket, a landmark generations of Thunderbirds remember
Bid 3: All playground equipment at the former Hatton-McCredie Elementary, except the Rocket

Key dates:
Site viewings: Friday, November 6 (Hatton-McCredie 8:00–10:00 a.m.; Williamsburg 10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.)
Written questions due: Tuesday, November 10, by 5:00 p.m.
Bids due: Tuesday, November 17, by 2:00 p.m.
Public bid opening: Tuesday, November 17, at 2:15 p.m. in the North Callaway High School Library

Please note that all equipment is sold as is, and the buyer is responsible for complete removal and site restoration within 30 days. Bids must be submitted on the District’s official forms.

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will demolish two old bridges at the I-70 and US 54 interchange in Kingdom City. The closure runs this Friday and weekend, from 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, until about 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2.

MoDOT says the bridges were built in the early 1960s and have reached the end of their service life. They sit in the middle of the new roundabout at the interchange, as part of the $405 million Improve I-70 project between Columbia and Kingdom City.

What drivers need to know this weekend

You will not be able to cross I-70 on US 54, and the roundabout will be closed.
The ramps at Exit 148 will stay open.
I-70 will narrow to one lane in each direction. Drivers will be directed up and over the Exit 148 ramps before returning to the interstate.
All ramps at Route M/Hatton (Exit 144) will stay open during the work. The eastbound ramps are expected to close again afterward.
US 54 detours

Eastbound US 54: take eastbound I-70 to Routes A/Z at Exit 155, then return to westbound I-70.
Westbound US 54: take westbound I-70 to Route M at Exit 144, then return to eastbound I-70.
Please allow extra travel time, follow posted detour signs, and use caution in the work zone. This will affect travel to Friday night’s football game, so plan to leave early.

Nila Tripp and Paxton Shipley finished their cross country season at the Missouri Middle School XC Championships. Paxton finished 5th in the Class 2 Division.

Missouri is introducing a new system that assigns schools and districts an A–F letter grade. Recently, we learned that the state has moved up its release timeline. Although the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) indicated a November release, the state has released grades to Districts under an embargo. Because the grades were presented to the State Board of Education in a public meeting, they may become public under Missouri’s Sunshine Law​ earlier than anticipated. I want you to hear this from us first and to have the context you need to understand what you see.

District Tournament Update Our volleyball team's season came to an end tonight with a first-round loss to Montgomery County in the district tournament. While the result wasn't what we hoped for, we're proud of the effort, resilience, and sportsmanship this team showed all season. To our seniors, thank you for your leadership and the example you set. To our players and coaches, thank you for representing our school with pride. And thank you to our fans, families, and supporters for packing the gym and cheering us on all year. We'll be back to work soon.

Thunderbird Softball Season Update Our Thunderbirds fell 3–1 in the District Championship game, bringing the 2026 season to a close. Our team battled hard until the final out, and we couldn't be prouder of their effort, resilience, and sportsmanship all season long. To our players, coaches, families, and fans: thank you for your incredible support. Seniors, thank you for your leadership and dedication. Returning players, this is only the beginning. Once a Thunderbird, always a Thunderbird.

Due to weather, the district softball tournament is being postponed.

The semifinal games will now be played on Saturday, October 17th at 2:00 PM and 3:30 PM.

The Championship Game has been rescheduled for Monday, October 19th at 5:00 PM.
