Last week, the Missouri State Board of Education made two decisions that will affect our students and rural schools across Missouri.
📌 School Funding: The State Board chose not to request full funding of Missouri’s school foundation formula for 2027-28. This year, that underfunding left North Callaway R-1 approximately $250,000 short. For rural districts operating with tight budgets, decisions like this matter.
📌 A-F Report Card: The State Board also approved a new A-F system for grading schools. We appreciate the additional time districts have been given to review their data before it is released, but many details remain unknown. We will continue to keep our families and community informed.
The State Board does not have the final word on school funding. The Governor and the Missouri General Assembly hold that responsibility. North Callaway R-1 will continue to advocate for our students, our staff, and the future of rural education.

Co-hosted by North Callaway R-1 and Mexico Public Schools, this will be a factual, nonpolitical conversation led by Duane Martin about the future of rural schools.
Please come—and bring a neighbor, parent, business owner, or anyone who cares about our schools.
The more people who pay attention, ask questions, and join these conversations, the more clearly we show that rural Missouri students matter.

The JH volleyball game at New Bloomfield on Monday 9/28 has been moved to a home game and will be played at 5:00 PM at the elementary school.
The game originally scheduled for October 7 at home has been moved to an away game and will now be played on October 8.

See You at the Pole gathering on Wednesday, September 23, at 7:30 a.m.
Students, staff, and patrons are welcome to attend this voluntary gathering at the school flagpole.
A free breakfast will be provided for those attending.

Jh softball game tonight has been pushed back to a 6:00 start. The game is still at Southern Boone.

Middle school volleyball brought the energy tonight! Both teams battled through 3 hard-fought sets. Our B team came up just short, but the A team pulled through for the win!
