Things are happening at the building site for the new North Callaway Elementary School building! Construction Progress Since March, much of the work has focused on site preparation and utility installation for the new building. We’re thrilled to share that concrete is being poured today for the K-2 wing! Because this is a pre-engineered metal building, construction will move forward in sections. The K-2 wing at the front of the building comes first, followed by the administrative wing and the Thunderbird Learning Center. We anticipate seeing major progress throughout June and July! Upcoming Improvements Beginning Tuesday, May 29, Coil Construction will start grading for a brand-new high school parking lot. This gravel lot will offer daily parking for students and staff, as well as convenient access for football games, track meets, and other large school events. Looking Ahead We expect the new parking lot to be ready by the start of school in August. In the meantime, we’re working closely with vendors to select playground equipment, order new furniture, and enhance school safety with updated cameras and a modern intercom system. Kenya Thompson, North Callaway County R-I School District Honored by School Administrators Association Kenya Thompson, Superintendent of the North Callaway County R-I School District was among eight Missouri superintendents recognized by the Missouri Association of School Administrators (MASA) for outstanding performance as an Emerging Superintendent. Thompson was nominated for the honor by colleagues in the Northeast MASA Region. Thompson was honored during the Annual Awards Banquet at the MASA Spring Conference on March 26 at Margaritaville Resort, Lake Ozark, Missouri. The award is in recognition of outstanding performance in demonstrating the skills that reflect the best in educational leadership. Recipients must be a practicing superintendent in their second or third year of employment and have made a measurable contribution to the school district they serve.
