The North Callaway R-1 School District is thrilled to announce key leadership appointments and continued progress on the new North Callaway Elementary School building.
Mrs. Angela Wimmer, currently serving as principal of Williamsburg Elementary School, has been hired as the principal of the new North Callaway Elementary building. Mrs. Wimmer brings a strong background as a principal, district instructional coach, and teacher within our district. Her experience and instructional expertise will be a tremendous asset as we move forward.
Mrs. Christy Biggers, currently principal of Hatton-McCredie Elementary School, has been hired as assistant principal. Mrs. Biggers. Her leadership and passion for helping students and teachers will be instrumental in supporting both during this transition. Both leaders bring strong instructional leadership and a deep commitment to student success, and their experience will be instrumental as the District prepares to open the new facility.
Construction of the new elementary building remains on track for completion in May. In preparation for the transition, the District held its first joint faculty meeting on Monday, January 5. This meeting marked the beginning of collaborative planning efforts, including the establishment of teacher-led transition committees to ensure a smooth, successful opening for students and staff.
The new North Callaway Elementary School represents a significant step forward for the District. The consolidated building will create efficiencies in staffing and generate cost savings, while also providing modern safety features such as secure entrances and enhanced camera and intercom systems. Students will benefit from expanded learning opportunities, including additional course offerings such as fifth-grade band. The facility will also include a full varsity-size gym, to be used by both the elementary school and North Callaway athletics. The Thunderbird Learning Center (TLC) will also be relocated to the new building to provide a better environment for our youngest learners.
The District extends its sincere gratitude to the voters and patrons of the North Callaway R-1 School District for making this project possible. The passage of Proposition N turned a long-standing vision into a reality, and the District is proud to deliver a facility that will serve students and the community for generations to come.
