North Callaway Elementary School Project Update
The future of North Callaway is taking shape—literally! The new North Callaway Elementary School is making incredible progress, and we couldn’t be more excited to share an update with our Thunderbird community. From students and families to staff and patrons, every step forward reflects your continued support and pride in our district’s future.
Construction Progress
It’s been an exciting start to the 2025–26 school year at the construction site. The building has now been fully “topped out,” and crews are finishing the roofing to ensure the structure is weather-tight by December. Once enclosed, teams will begin interior work—installing walls and completing the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. One key highlight: our ICC 500 storm shelter, which will provide a state-of-the-art safety feature for students and staff, is nearing completion.
Playground
The Board of Education recently approved bids for the TLC and elementary playgrounds—spaces that will inspire play, imagination, and movement for our youngest Thunderbirds. Installation will be one of the final stages of the project, scheduled for Summer 2026.
Furniture
Our classrooms are also taking shape in exciting ways. The Board has approved new, developmentally appropriate furniture designed for flexibility, comfort, and collaboration at every grade level. Thanks to a recent grant, TLC has already received new furniture that will move into its brand-new home as part of this transition.
Building Staffing & Transition
Behind the scenes, a committee made up of dedicated staff and administrators from both Williamsburg and Hatton-McCredie is working thoughtfully on every detail of the transition to one united elementary school. Their focus goes far beyond staffing—they’re helping preserve traditions, foster school culture, and ensure a smooth and supportive experience for students, families, and staff as we come together in 2026–27.
Looking Ahead
Construction remains on track for completion in May 2026, with final touches—including the playground—ready by Summer 2026.
This project represents the heart and spirit of every Thunderbird. It brings together modern safety features, expanded learning opportunities, enhanced gym and collaboration spaces, and long-term savings for our district—all designed to serve students for generations to come.
