Why Prop N+C?

Tax Continuation Bond Issue (No Tax Increase) (Prop N) - New Building

  • $17 million in bond monies for

    • Construction of a single-site elementary school (Grades K-5) by the high school

    • A single-site elementary school could save the district over $600,000 in annual expenditures.

  • Needs a 4/7 majority vote to pass

Levy - General Operating Expenses (Prop C) - Continued Quality Education

  • A 25-cent increase in the operating levy to increase teacher & classified staff salaries to recruit and retain quality staff

  • Provide additional revenue for district facilities projects

  • Would provide the District with a projected $350,000 increase in revenue on the current assessed valuation

  • Needs a simple majority to pass

Overall Impact

  • If both measures pass, a net increase of 25 cents on the levy: total district levy - $4.9302 per $100 assessed valuation

  • Additional taxes by home/property value

    • $150,000 home = Additional 71.25/year or $5.94/month

    • $250,000 home = Additional 118.75/year or $9.90/month

    • 640 acres of Soil Grade 3 = $123.84/year or $10.32/month

Prop N+C will enable the District to:

  • Construct a single-site elementary school

  • Provide salary increases for all staff

  • Reduce operating costs

  • Eliminate shuttle buses

  • Consolidate resources

Process to get to this point:

  • District CSIP - Develop a comprehensive long-range plan for district facilities that supports high student achievement.

  • Long-range facilities study of Hatton-McCredie and Williamsburg conducted by Navigate for 10-year cost projections.
